The Midway Flying Club focuses on providing a safe and affordable environment for pilots and aviation enthusiasts to enjoy flying activities and social interactions.
The club was recently founded and currently operates a single Cessna C177B Cardinal from the Midway Regional Airport in Midlothian, TX. Other aircraft may be added as membership grows.
We strongly encourage safe operations of the aircraft with quarterly safety meetings and keeping up with aircraft maintenance and upgrades.
The club is run by the members and for the members. We work hard to keep our rates as low as possible as a non-profit organization. We offer:
· Fly according to your schedule. Members may reserve an aircraft for up to 12 consecutive days at a time (including one weekend).
· We limit the ratio of active members per airplane to ensure excellent availability. Often, same day bookings are possible. We use Flight Circle to automatically manage reservations. Up to four reservations are permitted per member with no penalties for cancellations and the ability to reserve as far ahead as you want.
· Easy web-based aircraft scheduling – book a plane from home using the Internet or phone.
· Use of the Mid-Way FBO facilities – office space and computer with internet access for flight planning. There are comfortable couches and a TV in the main area of the FBO so your passengers can relax while you finish pre-flight planning!
· Access to instructors available to help you maintain your proficiency. However, we are not a flight school: the instructors act as private contractors that you may work with for any instruction you wish to receive.
· We have zero overhead—no staff, no fancy offices, no benefits or retirement accounts to fund—just the actual costs of flying our fleet. As a non-profit organization, we work for our member’s benefit, not the bottom line. All revenue goes back into the airplanes and the club, we charge only what it actually costs to maintain well-equipped and well-maintained aircraft
· Our membership takes good care of our fleet. Since the club is responsible for the maintenance of the aircraft, it is in the interest of each member to take good care of the aircraft to avoid costly repair or renovation.
· Liability and hull insurance is included in the membership cost.
